REMIX OS: The Future Of Android OS

Looking for a free installable Windows alternative? Jide Technology’s Remix OS 2.0 produces an Android-based operating system for desktops and laptops – it’s not yet ready for prime time, but the preview is terrifying – for Microsoft.

Many of today’s Linux-based systems, like Android and Ubuntu, suffer from limitations. Ubuntu’s software library isn’t comparable to Windows and Android can’t install onto a computer. Remix creates a bridge between the two systems by combining Android’s titanic app library with a desktop Graphical User Interface. Another major coup: Remix OS runs lightning fast on low-end hardware, making it suitable for netbooks (what’s a netbook?) and Chromebooks (what’s a Chromebook?).

After weeks of testing, my conclusion: Remix OS is a remarkable operating system. The combination of Android with a Windows-like GUI creates a surprisingly comfortable, user-friendly operating system. Although still in an early preview, the new OS shows great promise for home PC builders and will soon include a full installer, similar to Ubuntu.

JIDE TECHNOLOGY has released an Alpha build of its much praised Remix OS version of Android, available free of charge.

Remix OS, which came out before some months, is a killer Android variant that brings a slick desktop-style interface to Android. Now, you can install it on a USB stick and try it out on your computer.
Android isn’t exactly built for a keyboard and mouse, but that hasn’t stopped some of us from trying. RemixOS, from developer Jide, wants to change that by adding a desktop, windowed apps, and more to Android. Here’s how to try out the very experimental alpa.
Remix OS from Jide is a reimagination of Android that provides a desktop-like windowed environment, powered by Android, to grant the benefits of the mobile OS with productivity characteristics of a desktop operating system such as a taskbar, true multi-tasking, and more. It's currently available on hardware made by Jide, such as the Remix Mini, but is also available as a bootable operating system for X86 devices.
Remix OS is a computer operating system for personal computers with x86 and ARM architectures that ships with a number of 1st- and 3rd-party devices. Remix OS allows PC users to run Android mobile appson any compatible Intel-based PC.
In January 2016 Jide announced a Beta version of their operating system called Remix OS for PC, which is based on Android-x86 — a x86-port of the Android operating system — and available for download for free[5] from their website. The beta version of Remix OS for PC brings hard drive installation, 32-bit support, UEFI support and OTA updates. Except for the free software licensed parts available on Github., unlike Android-x86, the source code of Remix OS is not available to the public.
