          Nepal was never colonized by any other foreign military through its entire history of existence. Its neighbor, India, was colonized by British. However, they still could not defeat Nepal. The question might arise why the British did not colonize Nepal? The answer is simply “Because Nepal had some badass kings.”

   Through all its history of border expansion and contraction, Nepal has never been colonized and ruled by foreigners. Therefore, Nepal celebrates no Independence Day.





8. Nepal is the only country with a non-quadrilateral flag

   Nepal’s flag is maroon with two triangular shapes stacked on one another with the blue border. The upper triangle consists of the moon and the lower triangle consists of the sun. The basic design of this flag is over 2000 years old.










9. Nepal Was Once named as the weed capital

    Siddhartha Gautam (Buddha) was born in Kapilvastu, Lumbini which lies in Nepal. Lumbini is a sacred place for Buddhists.







11.. The only living goddess in the world called Kumari can be found in Nepal

     The literal meaning of Kumari is Virgin. In Nepal, these Kumari, or “living goddesses,” are pre-pubescent girls considered to be the earthly manifestations of divine female energy, incarnations of the goddess known as Taleju, the Nepalese name for Durga.
Selected as children, they live in temples, are carried in chariots during festivals and are worshiped by thousands of Hindus and Buddhists. They retire upon puberty.






12. Nepal Gurkhas have been part of the British Army Since 1

 “Better to die than being a coward” is the motto of the world-famous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who are an integral part of the British Army since 1815 when a peace agreement was clinched by the British East India Company after it suffered heavy casualties during an invasion of Nepal.

      In Nepal grow 5,980 flowering plant species including two percent of the world’s orchids (more than 360 species), six percent of the world’s rhododendron species (and it’s Nepal’s national flower), and 250 species endemic to Nepal (and not found growing anywhere else on earth).This is one of the reasons Nepal is known as the Amazon of Asia.

     According to statistics, Nepal is the country with the highest number of returning visitors than any other countries in South Asia. Nepal stands for “Never Ending Peace And Love”, whereas the slogan of tourism sectors is “Naturally Nepal, Once is not enough”.







23. Nepal has the densest concentration of World Heritage Sites:


     Kathmandu valley alone has 7 World Heritage Cultural sites within a radius of 15 kilometers. The seven include the Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu), Patan and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath and the Hindu temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan.

 Talking of unique aspects of Nepal, it is the only country in the world where people of two distinct religions, Hindus and Buddhists have coexisted perfectly for centuries. Out of the seven heritage sites, two are Hindu sites and two Buddhists.















The weirdest fact is that all above facts happen within the area of 1,47,181 Sq. Km. If you compare the area of the world, it is only 0.1 % of the total world’s area.
